This video shows an engineer from Consumer Reports who provides instructions to consumers on what to do if your car accelerates out of control. He is in a Toyota product for this demonstration, and he makes the point that the brake cannot override the accelerator in some vehicle models. He instructs consumers to shift the vehicle into neutral and guide it to a safe stop before turning off the engine.
There is a very positive message for Volkswagen at the end of the video. The Consumer Reports engineer performs a driving safety demonstration in a Jetta SportWagen and he states that the brakes do override the accelerator. For your information, Volkswagen has had this technology in place in our vehicles since 1993 on diesel products and since 1999 on all gasoline models.
